Buck O’Neil remembered for his dignity and love (AP)
Buck O’Neil, the former player-manager who became a beloved spokesman for the Negro Leagues, was remembered Saturday for his capacity “to love even in the face of hatred.” “Buck O’Neil always had a smile for you,” said the Rev. Spencer Francis Barrett, pastor of the Bethel A.M.E. church that O’Neil faithfully attended since 1947.

Sutton will not call games for Braves next season (AP)
Don Sutton won’t return as an Atlanta Braves announcer next season, a Turner Broadcast System official said Thursday. Sutton, who has been part of Turner Sports’ Braves broadcasts since 1989, won’t call games for TBS or radio in 2007, network spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said. The Hall of Fame pitcher recently finished his contract.
