    Braves 6, Marlins 5 (AP)

Tim Hudson pitched seven sharp innings, Edgar Renteria hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth and the Atlanta Braves beat the Florida Marlins 6-5 on Saturday night. Renteria’s double off reliever Armando Benitez (2-4) drove in Willie Harris, breaking a 1-1 tie and sending the Braves to their fifth straight win.

    Braves 12, Marlins 3 (AP)

Chuck James held the Marlins to a run and four hits and had two hits of his own, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Florida Marlins 12-3 on Friday night. James (7-7) went 6 2-3 innings and struck out five to win for the second time in three starts. It was the fourth consecutive win [...]

    Braves 13, Nationals 0 (AP)

Chipper Jones drove in four runs to back a strong start from John Smoltz, helping the Atlanta Braves beat Washington 13-0 on Wednesday night and sweep a three-game series from the Nationals. Atlanta had a season-high 22 hits and scored in six of the first seven innings, snapping out of a dreadful five-game losing streak [...]

Davies still feeling sore on left side (AP)

Kyle Davies wore a big wrap around his torso as he moved slowly through the Braves’ clubhouse on Wednesday. A mild strained left oblique will keep the Atlanta right-hander out of the rotation for a three-game series this weekend at Florida. Davies felt sore and stiff after a bullpen session the previous day.

Time change for Sunday game leaves Braves steaming (AP)

The Atlanta Braves were peeved to learn that another Sunday game was switched to an evening start. Their July 22 game against the St. Louis Cardinals has been changed to 8:05 p.m. instead of the usual 1:05 start to accommodate an ESPN national telecast. It was the third time a Braves game has been moved [...]

Fick reinstated from bereavement list; Watson sent back to minors (AP)

The Washington Nationals reinstated first baseman Robert Fick from the bereavement list Tuesday night and sent outfielder Brandon Watson back to Triple-A Columbus, where he set an International League record with a 43-game hitting streak. Fick, who was activated after a 6-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves, missed a week because of the death of [...]

    Braves 4, Nationals 1 (AP)

Brian McCann delivered the slump-busting big hits the Atlanta Braves desperately needed. McCann’s run-scoring single gave the Braves their first lead in a week, and he added a three-run homer to lift Atlanta to a 4-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Monday night. The Braves snapped a five-game losing streak, their longest of the [...]
