Braves 12, Astros 4 (AP)
Mark Teixeira didn’t even play, and already he’s earning credit for the Atlanta Braves’ power game. Kelly Johnson had four hits, including two homers, and Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann also hit home runs to help the Braves welcome Teixeira back to town with a 12-4 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.

Braves get Teixeira, Dotel as highlights of 3 deals (AP)
Mark Teixeira landed in Atlanta on Tuesday and right away, there was bold talk in the Braves clubhouse. “Yes, we’ve got the team to win the World Series,” All-Star catcher Brian McCann said. Braves general manager John Schuerholz pulled off three deals before the 4 p.m. deadline to make trades without waivers.

Braves acquire more bullpen help with Kansas City’s Dotel (AP)
The Atlanta Braves made another trade to bolster their bullpen, getting Kansas City reliever Octavio Dotel on Tuesday for pitcher Kyle Davies. The Braves, in contention for the NL East title and in the middle of the wild-card race, made the deal shortly before the 4 p.m. EDT deadline for making trades without waivers.
