The Atlanta Braves asked for waivers on right-handed pitcher Lance Cormier on Friday for the purpose of granting his unconditional release. The move came less than a week after Cormier was removed from the team’s 40-man roster to clear a spot for lefty Tom Glavine. The 27-year-old Cormier was 2-6 with a 7.09 in 10 games, including nine starts, for the Braves last season.
